James Mackinnon
James Mackinnon, born 1968, is known for his paintings of the East End of London. He studied at Saint Martin’s school of Art and Kingston Polytechnic, gaining experience in Design for Film and Television before painting full time. His work is held in the C20th collection at The Museum of London and can be seen in various publications including ‘East End Vernacular: Artists who painted Londons East End Streets in the 20th century,’ by The Gentle Author.
‘A blend of Dutch Old Master accuracy and the exactness of contemporary hard-edged realism make Mackinnon’s subtly coloured studies curiously compelling.’
David Buckman, author of Artists in Britain since 1945.
